What is the MedicFest Summit?
The MedicFest Summit is a day long event for students in years 10, 11, 12 or 13 (in Sept 2025) who have aspirations of becoming a doctor.

Work Experience.
During the day, you’ll experience a University style lecture on pharmacology and toxicology, take part in 3 hands on practical workshops where you’ll get to use REAL medical equipment and then finally, take part in a UCAS statement Masterclass and Q&A session with current and recently qualified medical students.
When, Where & How Much is the MedicFest Summit
There will be up to 6 MedicFest Summits in 2025 and more in 2026.
They’ll take place at weekends in Sept, Oct and Nov 2025.
Current cities include: London, Bristol, Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester & Leeds/Bradford.

What's are the Workshops?
Session 1 - Pharmacology & Toxicology Lecture
Experience a University style lecture on the pharmacology and toxicology of some of the most common analgesics (pain killers). We’ll explore the physiology of pain, how medicines are used to interfere with these processes to give us pain relief and what happens if we give too much!
You’ll be able to take notes in the fab workbook that you’ll receive as part of the day.
And the whole thing is recorded so you can watch it back at home if you want to recap and delve deeper into this fascinating topic!
The lecture is delivered by Medical Mavericks’ very own Tom Warrender who has taught at the University of Wolverhampton and Birmingham City University.
Sessions 2, 3 & 4 - Hands On & Practical Workshops
During the next three sessions, you’ll be a group of 15-20 others and experience using REAL medical kit to explore your own physiology, look at how we use medical equipment to diagnose and monitor patients as well as learn some key skills that will become useful in your medical career.
The equipment you’ll be able to use includes, ultrasound machines, recording ECGs, trying phlebotomy & keyhole surgery, learning how to suture, how to perform a neurological examination, using an ophthalmoscope, pulse doppler and even an infra-red vein scanner.
Each session is delivered by an experience medical student that has been through the same experiences as you at school and college… giving you the perfect opportunity to ask questions to help your application.
Sessions 5 - UCAS Statement Masterclass & Q&A
The final session is a UCAS masterclass, delivered by our fab team of medical students who know how to put together the most effective UCAS statement to give you the best chance of getting into Med School.
They’ll cover what Universities are actually looking for along side the the key elements of a UCAS statement that the majority of applicants miss. Plus we’ll explore how to use any medical experience (including this summit!) in your statement. There’ll be examples of best practice… and a checklist of what not to do!
To finish off, there’ll be a Q&A session where you’ll get to ask our panel of Medical Students and special guests anything you want about the application process, interviews and medical school in general.
