If they’ve made this decision, you’ve done a great job as a parent. Keeping us healthy & saving lives is held in the highest regard by everyone.

However, the road to qualification is long and requires an immense amount of hard work and dedication from your child and potentially significant financial support for you, the parent.
The intensity of training from day 1 is high.

From the very start, the topics of physiology, anatomy, pathology, pharmacology and more are studied, many of which will be completely new and will require some serious study time to get to grips with. Combined with moving away from home and living with new people for the first time the pressure can be high on your child.

The result of this is that 10% of students drop out of med school with the majority doing so in year 1.
