This is where you will find all the training for medical mavericks workshops. You have the workshop introductions along with tasks and actions needed to be completed each day as well as info on your expense limits (coming soon!)
Watch this first video if you are considering joining our freelance team. It tells you all about how we operate and what is expected of a freelancer. If you like what you see and hear, click the button below to fill in our Freelancer Info Form and tell us which training date you can make. The training days take place in Wolverhampton at Fordhouses Cricket Club, Wobaston Road, WV3 9BY.
We pay for your travel to the training day as well as pay you for attending. The pay for the day is made once you have completed your first shift. If you can’t make any of the dates listed, dont’t panic! We can invite you to a day in a school with an experienced team to see who it works. (We would love you to come to a training day though!).
There’s nothing fancy in this video, just Tom talking! So you can listen to it on a walk or in the car if you prefer.
Once you are booked onto a training day, please watch this second video before attending. This helps save some time on the day and gives us more time to play with the equipment. You’ll receive a print out of the document seen in the video, but you can also download a copy by clicking the link below. Any questions, bring them along to the training day.
Watch these 2 videos that show you how to sign up for shifts using our Google Sheet Rota. The first video is a general overview of what to do. The second video is specifically for the months of June & July in the summer term.
Basics – Right click on cells / shifts you can work and comment your name and if you need a hotel or not.
Yellow cells we need extra people.
Cells with numbers in, have not been staffed yet and indicate how many we need.
If the shift has lots of names commented on it already, don’t let that put you off! Please still comment as logistics of where people are etc play a part in selecting members of the team for that day.
Video 2 on the Summer Term Specifics Below
This is Tom’s introduction to the medical workshop. Apologies for the echo in the room! This intro is around 17minutes which is about right… if you can get it to 15min, you are a star! The rough script for the intro can be downloaded using the button below.
Daisy is one of our presenters as opposed to having a medical background. She is a professional actor and presenter and has created these 3 short trainings that are jam packed with tips on how to present the workshop and deliver an inspiring, engaging and memorable day.
Total Time Needed: Less than 10minutes
We occasionally run our MedicFest event for schools. This day runs as follows:
Session 1: All students together for the Human Guinea Pig Show
Session 2,3,4,5 – Students are split into 4 groups and all go to one of fours workshops for session 2. They then rotate around the 4 workshops over the rest of the day.
The workshops are: Med 1, Med 2, Senses, Sport Science.
Click the button below to see how the kit is split across the 4 sessions.
You can also watch the senses session training video here as well.
We sometimes run an assembly as a promotional session so schools can see what we are all about OR the assembly can also be used during a workshop day.
This training shows you what the assembly is all about, how to access the slides and what kit to use.
If it is a promo session, make sure you take a pack from the office to hand over and tell the SLT all about us. Ask Tom for more details.
The message is always the same – there are lots of careers in the NHS to choose from – not just doctors and nurses!
The Future Medic Club is our brand new after school club for pupils in years 4, 5 & 6 at Primary Schools across the UK.
We launch the Club with an assembly in the term before they run, followed by FIVE different 1 hour sessions that run in the following term.
Below is an example of the assembly as well as guidance on the 5 different sessions that are all colour coded – Orange, Pink, Red, Blue and Green
The sessions can run in ANY order, so any reference to which number the session is in the rota, is only a reflection on the number of sessions that have been delivered.
