What’s in the workshop
The workshop is ideal for enrichment, STEM or drop down days as well as curriculum specific PE lessons.
During a workshop students can take part in 10 sports science tests to compare themselves to each other and some of the world’s greatest athletes!
Every student receives a score card to record their scores on as they test their speed, power, strength, endurance and jumping ability!
The most popular activities include:
- The Accelerator – race a virtual Usain Bolt (1.74 seconds is the time to beat over 10m from a standing start… we do get students beating it!)
- Record power output on a Watt bike… you need 2000+ watts to be an Olympian!
- Test ball throwing speed – the world record is 105.1mph!
- Test reactions on the BATAK wall
- And many more!
What careers does the workshop cover?
Of course the workshop is fun and exciting, but there is a serious side too! All of the tests are used in real sports science & STEM settings. That’s way we bring a couple of banner stands along that outline some of the different careers students can explore if they achieve a qualification in sports subjects.
